Ready To Take The Leap

Leapmotor C10 Review: The People’s Electric SUV
By Paul Enright | May, 2026
With sharp styling, loads of standard equipment, and a price tag that undercuts much of the competition, the Leapmotor C10 makes a compelling case as one of the best-value EVs on sale today.
If the name Leapmotor doesn’t ring a bell, you’re not alone. The Chinese EV brand is still relatively new to Ireland and the UK, despite selling electric cars in its home market since 2019. Its expansion into Europe came after a joint venture with Stellantis in 2023, opening the door for models like the T03 city car and this — the Leapmotor C10.
Aimed squarely at rivals such as the Tesla Model Y, Skoda Enyaq, Peugeot E-3008, and Opel Grandland Electric, the C10 is a mid-sized family SUV focused on value above all else.
And at around €43,000 before incentives, it immediately grabs attention.
Design & Interior
The C10 follows the now-familiar formula for modern Chinese electric SUVs: clean surfacing, slim LED lighting, flush door handles, and a minimalist overall look.
It’s not flashy, but it’s handsome in an understated way. The front end’s narrow light bar and sculpted bumper give it a modern appearance, while darker paint options — especially the metallic green finish — suit the design far better than the standard white.
Inside, the cabin feels airy and impressively well put together. Build quality is genuinely solid, with soft-touch materials and synthetic leather upholstery throughout. The minimalist dashboard is dominated by a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a large 14.6-inch central touchscreen.
Like Tesla, almost every function is controlled through the infotainment system. Thankfully, Leapmotor’s software is far easier to live with than some other Chinese EV systems we’ve experienced recently, although it’s still not quite as intuitive as Tesla’s setup.
Earlier versions lacked Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but Leapmotor says both systems are now available through software integration updates.
Storage space inside the cabin is excellent, with large door bins, multiple cupholders, a generous centre console, wireless phone charging, and USB-C ports throughout.
Rear passenger space is also impressive, making the C10 a genuinely family-friendly SUV.
Practicality
At 4.7 metres long, the C10 sits firmly in the large family SUV category.
Boot space comes in at 435 litres with the seats up and 1,410 litres with them folded down. That’s decent, though not class-leading when compared to alternatives like the Skoda Enyaq.
Still, for most families, there’s more than enough room for shopping, luggage, or a weekend away.
Battery, Range & Driving Experience
Leapmotor keeps things simple with a single powertrain option.
The C10 uses a 69.9kWh battery paired with a rear-mounted electric motor producing 215bhp. Performance is perfectly respectable rather than exciting, with 0-100km/h taking around 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 170km/h.
On the road, comfort is clearly the priority.
The suspension handles rough Irish roads surprisingly well, soaking up bumps better than some more expensive rivals. Power delivery is smooth and refined, making the C10 an easy car to drive every day.
Push harder through corners and you’ll notice noticeable body roll and fairly vague steering, but this isn’t a car pretending to be sporty. It’s designed to be comfortable, relaxed transport for families — and in that role, it succeeds.
Official range is rated at approximately 420km WLTP, while real-world efficiency sits around 17–20kWh/100km depending on driving conditions.
The biggest weakness is charging speed.
Maximum DC rapid charging tops out at 84kW, which feels slow by modern standards. A 10–80% charge takes roughly 45 minutes, well behind rivals like the Tesla Model Y and Skoda Enyaq.
Standard Equipment
One area where the C10 really stands out is specification.
There’s just one trim level, but it comes loaded with equipment as standard, including:
- Heated and ventilated front seats
- Heated steering wheel
- 20-inch alloy wheels
- Panoramic sunroof
- 12-speaker sound system
- Adaptive cruise control
- 360-degree camera
- Wireless phone charging
- Heat pump
- Intelligent lane assist
Most rivals charge extra for several of those features, making the Leapmotor’s value proposition even stronger.
There’s also smartphone app connectivity for remote locking, unlocking, and cabin pre-conditioning.
Verdict
The Leapmotor C10 isn’t trying to reinvent the electric SUV.
It’s not the fastest, most efficient, or most exciting EV on the market. Charging speeds could be better, and the driving dynamics won’t thrill enthusiastic drivers.
But that’s not really the point.
What the C10 delivers is space, comfort, technology, and impressive equipment levels at a genuinely competitive price. For buyers who simply want a practical, well-equipped electric family SUV without spending premium-brand money, it makes a huge amount of sense.
In many ways, “The People’s Electric SUV” feels like an entirely fair description.
